Three S.C. Papers Get New Group Publisher, GM

By: E&P Staff Heartland Publications has made management changes at three of its South Carolina community newspapers.

Under the new structure, Todd Rainwater, formerly publisher of the twice-weekly Herald Independent in Winnsboro, S.C., will oversee regional publishing duties for The Easley Progress, The Pickens Sentinel, and the Powdersville Post as group publisher. Sandy Turner Foster, a former editor of The Pickens Sentinel, will serve as general manager of the three papers.

Rainwater is a second-generation journalist who has spent more than 30 years in the newspaper business, while Foster was named South Carolina Journalist of the Year by the South Carolina Press Association twice, first in 2004 and again in 2007.

Rainwater told The Pickens Sentinel that he's "looking forward to working with the three newspaper staffs to continue to provide the great coverage of their communities that they have always been known for."
