Tim Swanson Appointed Film Editor of 'Los Angeles Times'

By: E&P Staff Tim Swanson has been appointed film editor of the Los Angeles Times, effective next month, the paper reported today.

Swanson currently writes and produces an entertainment news blog for Conde Nast's Portfolio magazine.

Prior to his work at Portfolio, Swanson was the West Coast bureau chief of
Premiere magazine, a post he held until the close of the magazine in 2002.

Before joining Premiere, Swanson worked at Variety, where he reported on film, television, music, and technology, in addition to writing and editing eV, Variety's digital entertainment magazine.

Swanson recently finished work on "A Lifestyle is a Terrible Thing to Waste: The Entourage Book," which will be published by Pocket Books this fall.

Swanson's responsibilities as film editor of the Times will include overseeing film coverage, including criticism and columns. He will report to Entertainment Editor Betsy Sharkey.
