By: E&P Staff The Times-Tribune, Times-Shamrock Communications' Scranton, Pa., daily, has launched a Web site using the Polopoly Web content-management system from Atex.

Last month, www.thetimes-tribune.com went live on Polopoly, and in the coming weeks, Times-Shamrock will roll out Polopoly across the Web sites for all its seven dailies and 11 weeklies.

Joining the 1,000-plus Web sites around the world powered by Polopoly, Times-Shamrock is the first hosted Polopoly solution delivered by Atex in North America.

Polopoly offered easy content creation and tight integration with the group's Atex Hermes editorial system (E&P, Jan. 2005).

"What we've especially gained with Polopoly is a way to seamlessly publish Web content from our existing print workflow, while adding customized control for each platform," Times-Tribune Metro Editor and Internet Content Director Jeff Sonderman said in a statement. "This increases our ability to serve our community and enables us to better compete in the digital space."

What can a self-driving car teach news publishers about AI? Quite a lot, according to Guy Tasaka. How Dublin Inquirer uses legal risk assessments to keep accountability journalism moving

When Dublin Inquirer publishes a sensitive accountability story, the challenge isn’t just reporting the facts. It’s deciding whether a small, seven-person newsroom can afford the legal risks that sometimes come with telling the public what it needs to know. For editor and co-founder Sam Tranum and deputy editor Lois Kapila, those decisions once came down to late-night conversations and educated guesswork. Today, the independent Dublin newsroom relies on Reporters Shield’s Legal Risk Assessment service to help identify potential legal vulnerabilities before publication—allowing journalists to move forward with greater confidence while keeping important stories alive.
