By: Meg Campbell The Times-Herald, Forrest City, Ark., is remodeling part of its production facility to make way for a computer-to-plate imaging system.
The new system consists of an ECRM Newsmatic HS 250 violet platesetter manufactured by Konica Minolta and is due to go on line in December, according to Managing Editor Tamara Johnson. It will be used to output six to 10 plates daily for the Times-Herald, in addition to plates for other area publications that the paper prints at its facility.
The Times-Herald, which recently celebrated its 137th anniversary, is one of the few remaining family-owned papers in Arkansas. The Monday through Friday afternoon paper has a circulation of approximately 4,500.
