By: E&P Staff The Times-Picayune of New Orleans won a Pulitzer for its coverage of Katrinia three years ago. It hopes it doesn't have to be up for another for deadly storm coverage. But Gustav might be coming to town anyway.
Yesterday we reported on what was going on at its home page, at www.nola.com. Tonight's top headline screams: "1.9 million flee fury of Gustav."
The paper's evacuation and "survival" sections continue very active and valuable. The latest on the storm is that it may go just west of New Orleans but if you can remember your Katrina history you may recall that the city slightly escaped the brunt of the storm that time because it came in just to the east of it and storms cause the cruelest damage on their right sides.
But Gustav, if it comes in to the west, will subject New Orleans to its right side.
As we did last night, here's a list of the revealing secondary stories:
-- At Gustav's epicenter many are staying put
-- Some fear that if they evacuate, they won't be allowed back in to care for their homes
