'Times-Pic' Online Site NOLA.com Throwing Halloween Party

By: E&P Staff NOLA.com, the Web site of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, is sponsoring a Halloween weekend party to "celebrate the return of night life to the Crescent City."

The first annual NOLA FEST, the site says, will be "two night of local celebrity-filled revelry" with locals and tourists invited to dress up for Halloween, "and show the world their support and love for New Orleans and its rebirth."

"New Orleans has suffered greatly, and is still suffering," NOLA.com Editor Jon Donley said in announcing the party. "But it's also a place where we live joyfully among the tombs of our families, and where the sounds of a funeral hymn are followed by a trumpet calling us to a second line that celebrates life. NOLA wants to share a time of music and celebration, and invite our community and visitors to mask, dance and show the world outside that we are still alive."

The festivities will take place at Fat Harry's Bar in the Uptown neighborhood, which has been the site of NOLA.com's live "Paradecam" webcasts during Mardi Gras.

"Anyone and everyone is encouraged to attend NOLA FEST," said Cory Haik, managing producer of NOLA.com. "It is a party for the people that make this city so unique. It is a celebration of the return of nightlife back to the Crescent City and it should not be missed."
