By: E&P Staff One extra press run -- on top of doubling the average number of copies run for single-copy -- was not enough to satisfy the demand for Monday's edition of Times-Picayune newspapers reporting on the New Orleans Saint's National Football Conference championship.
The paper reported Wednesday that copies from the extra press Monday night were sold out by Tuesday morning, so the press was fired up again.
"I thought we understood how passionate Saints fans are, but you amazed us, " Publisher Ashton Phelps Jr. said in the paper.
The Times-Picayune said it expects to sell six times the normal number of ordinary single-copy papers, or about 150,000 extra copies.
The Saints victory paper is expected to be its biggest single-copy seller ever, the paper said -- but noted it would not be the biggest seller ever.
"That mark was set by when Elvis Presley died and will be hard to break, given the thinning of the city's population since Hurricane Katrina," the unbylined story on the paper's Nola.com Web site reported.

This story has been corrected to reflect the Saints won the National Football Conference championshiop, not the AFC title.
