Times Writers Win Goldsmith Prize for Domestic Spying Coverage

By: E&P Staff James Risen and Eric Lichtblau of The New York Times were awarded the Goldsmith Prize for investigative journalism, and $25,000, yesterday from the Joan Shorenstein Center on the Press, Politics, and Public Policy at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government. They won for their scoop on the the National Security Agency's domestic spying program.

Nicholas Kristof, the Times columnist, was given a special award for his reporting on genocide in Darfur.

Jim Lehrer, the host of The News Hour on Public Broadcasting Service, was also honored with a career award for excellence in journalism.
