By: E&P Staff The Albany (N.Y.) Times Union has signed an agreement to use TACODA Systems' Audience Management System (AMS) and Audience Registration System to track demographic data on user of its Web site, TimesUnion.com, and develop audience segments.

AMS helps Web publishers create comprehensive profiles of visitors, who can then be grouped into audience segments of interest to particular advertisers. A combination of demographic data and information on user behavior can help produce constantly refreshed market segments that marketers can efficiently target. Profiles can be regrouped to need the needs of different marketers.

"Everyday our customers report extraordinary results for advertisers who, in turn, are providing sites with larger and longer commitments," Dave Morgan, CEO of TACODA, said in a statement.

The Times Union is one of the Hearst Corporation's 12 daily newspapers, and TimesUnion.com is the largest local-news site in New York's capital region.

"We've been impressed with TACODA's success with other clients in generating ad revenues quickly and we hope to have the same success with TimesUnion.com," Patti Hart, the Times Union's interactive media director, said in a statement.

More than 1,000 TACODA-enabled Web sites reach more than 75 percent of the U.S. Internet audience each month. Eight of the top 20 U.S. newspaper companies are TACODA clients.
