TMS Launches New Sports Widgets

By: E&P Staff Tribune Media Services is expanding its line of sports widgets for newspaper Web sites to include all major professional and college team sports. Online readers can use the widgets to check broadcast times and channels for their local teams.

The expanded service comes on the heels of TMS? release of the Baseball TV widget last spring, and is designed to help newspapers become the leading source of online sports TV information, according to TMS release. The widgets can provide local ad opportunities for newspapers and are viral, allowing online viewers to install them on their personal homepages.

TMS partnered with software developer NewsGator to create the sports widgets, which can be integrated onto newspaper sites as a software-as-a-service technology.
