Tom Kuntz Named 'New York Times' Pop Music Editor

By: Tom Kuntz has been named pop music editor for The New York Times. Kuntz, who is currently working on a separate project at the Times, will start work in his new capacity next year.

Kuntz joined the Times from Newsday in 1988 and helped reinvent its Week in Review, creating the Word for Word feature in the mid-90s. In addition, he has produced documentaries for New York Times TV.

A musician in his spare time, Kuntz has played guitar since the sixth grade and produced his own blues-rock CD in his home recording studio.
