Tony Ridder to Sit on McClatchy Board

By: E&P Staff When his company, as he knows it, expires on schedule next week, Knight Ridder CEO Tony Ridder will join the board of directors of the new company, the San Jose Mercury News reports today.

"Knight Ridder's agreement to be purchased by McClatchy allows the San Jose company two seats on McClatchy's board, but the identity of the second board member remains unknown," Pete Carey relates.

An official announcement of Ridder's appointment to the McClatchy board will be made later that week, the paper's sources said.

Ridder will also have an option to purchase up to 3,000 shares of McClatchy stock, Carey wrote.
