By: E&P Staff Topix.net, the news aggregator owned by Gannett, Knight Ridder, and Tribune, will add streaming video from Reuters to its offerings.
"By adding Reuters video content to Topix.net, we are giving our users another level of information tailored specifically to their interests so that they can have the most relevant news experience possible," Mike Markson, vice president of business development, said in a statement. "We are excited to add a new way to inform prospective users, while continuing to provide the categorized and local information our users have come to depent on."
Reuters produces 250 video clips a day, which will be available through links on the Topix.net site.
"Working with Topix is a great way for us to make our video news available to a wider audience," Azhar Rafee, executive vice president of Reuters customer services, said. "Viewers will get access to a wealth of packaged news reports and raw footage direct from the scene. They can pick the stories that matter to them most to create their very own newscast."
The Topix service collects headlines and other information from 10,000 online news sources for free.
