The Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY has announced a new name and renewed mission for its Tow-Knight Center: the Tow-Knight Center for Journalism Futures. The relaunch comes alongside the appointment of Gina Chua as executive director, positioning the Center at the forefront of exploring how generative AI is transforming journalism.
“The name — Journalism Futures — reflects both our optimism that journalism will meet this moment successfully, as well as our belief that there will be more than one path to sustainable futures,” said Chua, who joins the Center from Semafor, where she serves as executive editor at large.
The Center’s expanded focus will explore not just how AI is changing news creation, but how it’s fundamentally reshaping how audiences find, interact with, and use information.
