By: Staff Reports Company Provides E-commerce Tools
There's a new e-commerce vendor for the newspaper biz. Actually,
it's an old company that's narrowing its mission to focus
exclusively on local and regional newspapers.
Portland, Ore.-based yourEmarket recently changed its name to
TownHound. The company says it will focus on helping newspapers
generate revenues with Web applications designed to connect local
merchants and consumers.
The tools are designed to give newspapers and local merchants the
ability to control their own content. The software allows
consumers to get multiple requests for price estimates from local
service providers and to seek out bargains from participating
merchants.
The company started a few years ago as Make-An-Offer.com, a
regional Internet auction site. It later merged with
MyTownNet.com, an Internet software developer.
