Posted
By: E&P Staff When a Minneapolis area-teacher wanted to share the birth of her first child, she decided to turn to Gannett's MomsLikeMe online community to post the video.

The result was a global smash hit. According to Gannett Digital Media Network, the Nov. 6 user-generated video resulted in 1.3 million minutes in viewing time and 10 times the normal traffic. More than 1,000 people commented on the event so far.

"The MomsLikeMe.com network is uniquely built to provide local moms with a forum for sharing their experiences and stories," Cindy Chapman, community manager for MomsLikeMe in the Twin Cities, said in a statement. "As an active community member interested in helping others, Lynsee saw an opportunity to share her birth on MomsLikeMe as a learning experience for anyone who wants to know more about having a child."

Livestream.com powered the video stream on MomsLikeMe. Gannett has launched 80 local editions of the community site created by moms.
