"How is Senator Obama not being a Marxist?"
The Swamp

By Frank James

Frank James of the Swamp was so appalled at an interview conducted with Biden by Barbara West, an anchor for WFTV in Orlando, FLa. last week, that he suggested that J-schools use it as a perfect example of how an interview "should never be conducted." Here is a snippet. West: ?From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs. That's from Karl Marx. How is Senator Obama not being a Marxist if he intends to spread the wealth around?" Biden: "Are you joking? Is this a joke?" West: "No." Biden: "Is that a real questions?" West: "That's a question."

On Politics notes that the Obama campaign canceled interviews with Barbara West of Florida's WFTV after her "contentious" one with Biden. On Politics then goes on to report that West defends the tone of her interview with Biden in which she inferred Obama might be a Marxist, in a post in the Orlando Sentinel saying that she had four minutes of a satellite window for the interviews and ?"I got right down to it and yes, I asked him some pointed questions. ?I don't think I was rude or inconsiderate to him?...I can't believe that in all his years in politics, and all his campaigning and such, that he hasn't run into some rough questions before. McCain and Graham defend Palin -- but then, where is she on Sunday mornings?
The Trail
The Washington Post
By Juliet Eilperin

On the Sunday talk shows Sunday, both GOP nominee John McCain and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) defended Sarah Palin's choice as the republican VP nominee. First McCain said on NBC's ?Meet the Press? that he "cannot be more proud of her," and then Lindsey Graham also came to Palin's defense on ABC, according to Juliet Eilperin of The Trail, saying, "Quite frankly, Sarah's energized our base better than anybody we could have picked, and we needed that." Neither McCain nor Graham would comment however, on why she has not been allowed to appear on the Sunday Talk Shows herself, the only vice presidential candidate from either party never to have done so.

Three Western "battleground states" hosted huge rallies for Sen. Barack Obama this past weekend. Nevada, New Mexico, and Colorado had rallies during which he spoke to approximately a quarter million people, according to Amy Chozick of the Washington Wire. In fact over 100,000 people attended Sen. Obama's rally in Denver alone, which was his biggest crowd in the United States to date. At the rally, Obama joked, "I especially want you to vote early, if you're voting for me. If you're voting for the other guy, you should just wait until Nov. 5," he said, laughing.

Karl Rove is on to polling
Top of the Ticket

According to a flood of statewide polls in the past several days, Sen Obama has widened the Electoral College lead to its largest lead yet. This is the case according to the latest state poll research published today by Karl Rove & Co. (yes, that Karl Rove). According to Andrew Malcolm of the Top of the Ticket, Rove points out that Obama now holds 317 electoral votes to 157 for McCain with 64 in the toss-up category. Rove adds one cautionary note according to Malcolm: "From here to the end, these Electoral College maps will be slow to reflect last minute shifts in opinion since they are based on an average of state polls over a two week period."

Hasselbeck introduces Gov. Palin
The McCain Campaign called on Elizabeth Hasselbeck to introduce Gov. Palin at some events in the Sunshine State yesterday. Hasselbeck, the lone conservative and McCain supporter on The View, said she was "honored to be invited." She also said that she will tell some stories on today's show. When the subject arose as to what she was going to wear, Joy Behar, an outspoken Obama supporter from ?The View,? suggested a Hefty bag with shoulder pads.
