Michigan joins California and Ohio with voter registration challenges. A federal judge in Michigan, which is still technically a ?toss up? state, ordered the state to stop canceling registrations of people whose voter ID cards were returned by the post office. Jill Lawrence of On Politics reports that the lawsuit, which was filed by the American Civil Liberties Union and a national student group, has resulted in U.S. District Judge Stephen Murphy II ordering officials to return 1,435 names to the polls that were purged.

In a single day, the Republican National Committee paid for a $5 million ad purchase by OnMessage, a media firm from Alexandria, Va., which represents Republican candidates. According to Leslie Wayne of The Caucus, this is one of four independent expenditures that allows the RNC to name Obama in the advertisements. One of the ads called the ?Chicago Way? and which came out last week, talks about Rezko, Daley, and Ayers. The second advertisement is called ?Trillions? and challenges a number of Obama?s economic proposals.

Perhaps the McCain-Palin campaign feels that the snowmobilers are a potential untapped source of GOP support. Yesterday John McCain?s campaign announced the formation of New Hampshire Snowmobilers for John McCain and Sarah Palin. And as Foon Rhee suggests, in doing so they are trying to capitalize on Palin?s husband?s status as an accomplished snowmobile racer in Alaska. Tom Thomson, the state chairman of the new group, said ?the most important issue for snowmobilers is maintaining access to public lands and McCain Palin best understand our needs.? Over the weekend, Todd Palin visited New Hampshire Grass Drags and Water Cross in Fremont and started the first race.
