Even after Sen. John McCain returned to Washington this weekend to "handle" the bailout crisis, he was nowhere to be found during a vote on at least two massive spending bills which will keep the federal government running for the next five months. McCain has not voted in the Senate since April 8, and has missed 115 votes. According to a database created by washintonpost.com , Paul Kane of The Trail points out, McCain has missed more than 64% of his votes in the 110th Congress, more than any other senator.
Who was NOT watching the debates?
The Swamp

By Mark Silva
One third of all households in the nation's top viewing markets were watching Friday night's presidential debate. As Mark Silva for The Swamp blog points out, in some places interest was more than others. For example, in Missouri, a critical state in the election, more than half of all televisions were tuned in to the Obama-McCain exchange. At the other end of the scale however, in Arizona, John McCain's home state, viewer ship registered the lowest amongst the big markets, 24.8%. In fact, the 90-minute debate was carried by ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, PBS , CNN, Telemundo, Telefutura and BBCA, meaning that in effect, 66% of the nation's viewers tuned in to television Friday evening had to go out of their way to watch something other than the debates.
