McCain may have started it, but Obama's snapping back with an "I'm-rubber-and-you're-glue, whatever-you-say-bounces-off-me-and-sticks-to-you" approach. In his latest ad called "Embrace," Obama responds to McCain's Paris Hilton/Britney Spears ad called "Celeb" -- basically handing the celebrity crown to the Arizona Senator, and not for positive reasons. According to a post by Mark Memmott at USA Today's On Politics blog, Obama just released the spot, which will start running tomorrow on a number of national cable networks. Check out Memmott's post for the ad, and listen as the narrator characterizes McCain as a "Washington celebrity playing the same old Washington games," a man who has run a "low road campaign" and has spent his years "lurching to the right, then to the left -- the old Washington dance, whatever it takes."

By Chris Cillizza

Speculation of the "who" and "when" of the Democratic veep announcement continued last night as an e-mail from Obama's campaign manager hit cyberspace. The message, sent by David Plouffe and entitled "Barack's VP: Be the First to Know," said "Barack is about to make one of the most important decisions of this campaign -- choosing a running mate," according to a post by Chris Cillizza at The Washington Post's The Fix. "So, is this a sign that a surprise announcement is in the offing this week even as Obama vacations in Hawaii?" asks Cillizza. "No, according to Obama communications director Dan Pfeiffer. 'Sometimes an e-mail is just an e-mail, and this one should not be read as some sort of clue on timing of an announcement.'"

On Aug. 27, the still unnamed vice presidential nominee will speak," said Davis.

With the DNC fast approaching, people are scrambling to ensure access to Obama's acceptance speech at the Invesco field on Aug. 28. But it's not just Americans vying for spots at the event. According to a post by The Denver Post's Politics West, a South Korean high-office seeker "had his people phone Denver host committee chief Mike Dino for a ticket. Somehow, his aide explained, his attendance is vital to her boss' electability."
