As the polls for the upcoming election appear to be narrowing, so do the bank accounts of the candidates. Obama?s campaign announced Sunday that its fundraising tally from August was its best to date. According to Scott Helman of Political Intelligence at the Boston Globe, Obama?s campaign manager David Plouffe said that there have been more than 2.5 million donors to the Obama campaign and it now has $77 million, $66 million of which was raised in August alone. McCain also posted impressive fund raising numbers in August, raising $47 million dollars mainly from donors encouraged by the pick of Sarah Palin as his running mate. (Note: Because McCain has opted for public financing, he has $85 million in public money but may not receive addition donor contributions now that he has been officially nominated as the Republican Presidential candidate)
