By: E&P Staff Tribune Co. remains intent on selling its sprawling collection of newspapers, broadcast stations, new media investments and the Chicago Cubs baseball team to a single buyer, the Chicago-based media company is indicating.
The Washington Post reported Tuesday that Tribune told the leader of a consortium of Baltimore businesspeople interested in bidding for The Sun that it is not yet ready to consider bids for individual properties.
Post staff writer Frank Ahrens quoted Baltimore businessman Ted Venetoulis as saying Tribune rejected his group's request to look at Sun financial information to prepare a possible bid. Venetoulis said in an e-mail exchange began last week that they remain focused on selling the entire company to a single bidder.
Venetoulis said he has talked with nearly all the reported bidders for the entire Tribune to let them know of his group's interest in the Sun, the Post reported.
