By: E&P Staff The Tribune Co. increased its reward for information about a hit-and-run accident that killed the child of an employee.

The sum of $25,000 will go to anyone who has information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the person or persons involved in the death of 8-year-old Luis D. Mesa, the son of Maria Mesa. Mesa is an employee of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

"Tribune is again asking the community for help in bringing the hit-and-run driver to justice," said Luis Lewin, Tribune senior vice president/human resources, in a statement. "We continue to believe that somebody out there has information that could solve this crime"

The accident took place almost three years ago in Chicago when the Mesas were visiting family. On April 15, 2003, a dark-colored, four-door Chevrolet struck Luis as he was crossing the 6200 block of West Grand Avenue with his mother.

Tribune said that anyone with information about the accident should contact the Chicago Police Department at (312) 745-4521.
