By: Seeking to boost its recruitment category, Chicago's Tribune Co. announced the launch of the Tribune Recruitment Network, a sales arm representing all 11 Tribune newspapers and the CareerBuilder Web site.
The new sales group will promote print and online help-wanted advertising to national and multi-market employers. A press release from Tribune points out that 152 of the Fortune 500 companies have offices in Tribune markets. National Sales Manager Randy White said the Recruitment Network will offer a single point of contact for employers who must hire in many different markets.
Tribune has been enhancing its recruitment strategy for the last year. Tribune newspapers now run co-branded CareerBuilder help-wanted sections on Sunday. (Tribune is a co-owner of Chicago-based CareerBuilder Inc., along with Knight Ridder of San Jose, Calif.) Tribune newspapers also offer specialized print products targeting entry-level, blue collar, and clerical jobs.
The Recruitment Network's five reps will complement CareerBuilder's sales team of 130 and the 300-plus employment advertising reps at Tribune newspapers including the
Chicago Tribune; Los Angeles Times; Newsday of Melville, N.Y.;
The Sun of Baltimore; and
South Florida Sun-Sentinel of Fort Lauderdale. The Network's reps will cover the following territories: West Coast, Midwest, Southeast, Mid-Atlantic, and Northeast.
Separately, Careerbuilder announced Wednesday that it will build a local career center for Citysearch of Los Angeles. Citysearch's career channel is currently powered by FlipDog Inc. of Provo, Utah. FlipDog is a subsidiary of TMP Worldwide Inc., which also owns Monster.com.
CareerBuilder CEO Bob Montgomery said Citysearch's traffic will expand the CareerBuilder network and provide a larger user base of potential employees to employers.
