By: Joe Strupp The ongoing cost-cutting at Tribune Company is apparently soon headed for its Washington, D.C., bureau, according to The Washington Post.
The Post writes that the 42-person Tribune D.C. bureau, which houses the Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune and other Tribune newspapers' offices, is expected to be cut by 12 through a consolidation.
"Who will manage the bureau is unclear," the Post's Howard Kurtz writes. "Michael Tackett [former Chicago Tribune bureau chief] quit in August ? The Tribune's last two bureau chiefs quit in recent weeks, while Doyle McManus, who has run the Times bureau for 13 years, has told colleagues that he long ago asked for a new assignment."
Tribune officials have not responded to a request for comment, while McManus has been unavailable.
