Tribune Media Net Hires Agency Vet for Direct Response Sales

By: E&P Staff Tribune Media Net, the national and cross-media advertising sales organization for Tribune Company, today named Jeff Piper as the group's director for direct response sales.

He will be responsible for the creation and management of programs that maximize the value of "stand-by" ROP/Display advertising inventory for Tribune's 11 newspapers. Piper will also work on other sales programs for Tribune Media Net.

Dana Hayes, Tribune Media Net senior vice president/sales and marketing, said the move was meant to grow top line revenue and expand the newspaper's client base. "Jeff's knowledge and experience from the agency world will enable us to sell effective newspaper schedules to generate advertiser results," Hayes said in a statement.

Piper had served as vice president and general manager at Carat Press, a division of Carat USA, since 1999. In that position he was responsible for all newspaper planning and buying. Piper previously worked at Novus Marketing, Bozell Minneapolis, and Carmichael-Lynch Advertising. Piper will be based in the Chicago office of Tribune Media Net.

Piper graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in marketing and has served as a committee member for the American Association of Advertising Agencies.
