Tribune Co. of Chicago named Kathleen M. Waltz president, publisher, and
CEO of Orlando Sentinel Communications on Friday. Waltz, 46, held the

She succeeds John Puerner, recently named president and publisher of the

acquired by Tribune in an $8-billion deal.

A 27-year Tribune Co. veteran, Waltz has been working at the Daily
Press since 1998. Prior to that, she was vice president/general
manager of the Sun Sentinel Co., another Tribune subsidiary in Florida.

'Kathy brings to Orlando a record of success,' said Tribune Publishing
President Jack Fuller in a statement. 'Kathy has met every executive
challenge presented to her, and I have enormous confidence that she will
do a great job in and for Orlando.'
