Tribune Names VP, Editor for New 'Hoy'

By: Tribune Co. promoted Digby Solomon Diez to vice president and general manager and Alejandro Escalona to editor in chief of Hoy's new Chicago edition.

The pair currently manage Exito, Tribune's Spanish-language weekly in Chicago that will be replaced in early September by Hoy, the same name for Tribune's Hispanic daily in New York.

Solomon is a native of Cuba and has worked for Tribune since 1990. He has held a variety of posts, including general manager of interactive at the Chicago Tribune.

A native of Mexico, Escalona has been editor of Exito since 1997 and was managing editor previously.
