Tribune Publishing Makes Executive Changes

By: E&P Staff Tribune Publishing of Chicago announced Monday that David Hiller, president/interactive and senior vice president/publishing, has new responsibilities, including oversight of The Sun in Baltimore and the company's Hispanic media.

Vice President/Administration and Chief Financial Officer Jerry Agema was also promoted to senior vice president.

Hiller's existing responsibilities include Tribune Interactive, Tribune Classified Services, Tribune Media Service, The Hartford (Conn.) Courant and CLTV.

Agema will continue his duties in administration and finance, adding oversight of strategy and development, human resources, and technology within the publishing group.

Also Monday, Tribune Publishing announced that Vice President/Editorial Howard Tyner, a former Chicago Tribune editor, will retire Dec. 31. Succeeding Tyner will be Gerould Kern, who has served as editorial director since 2001.

Tyner was Chicago Tribune editor from 1993 to 2001, when the paper earned six Pulitzer Prizes.

Kern joined the Tribune in 1991 after serving as executive editor and managing editor of The Daily Herald in suburban Chicago.
