By: Mark Fitzgerald Hoy, Tribune Co.'s national Spanish-language daily, announced changes that bring Los Angeles Times veterans into the top management of its Los Angeles edition.
Giselle Acevedo-Franco, who had been the Times' vice president of public relations, was named president of the L.A. edition of Hoy.
Juan Arango, who had been general manager and vice president of editorial operations since the launch of the Los Angeles edition last January, was named vice president and executive editor of Hoy on a national level.
Hoy's interim president, Digby Solomon, said in a statement the changes were intended to "maintain the very rapid rhythm" of growth at the edition. Hoy was punished recently by the Audit Bureau of Circulations for inflating its New York-area circulation, leading to the resignation of its founding editor and publisher Louis Sito. In its announcement Tuesday, Hoy did not indicate how many copies it is selling in the Los Angeles market.
In a third change, Robert J. Palermini, senior vice president and chief technology officer of the Los Angeles Times, will extend his responsibilities to Hoy's L.A. edition by becoming the interim senior director of operations. In a statement, Palermini said the move is intended to strengthen relations between the two dailies in operations, circulation and advertising.
