By: E&P Staff Get ready, Obama Girl -- you've got competition.
HCD Research announced today that it will partner with Tribune Co. to host a national music video contest on its Mediacurves Web site, which records public opinion of the media as well as advertising campaigns. The videos will also be featured on the Chicago Tribune's popular politics and government news blog "The Swamp."
The contest, titled ?Ballads for Ballots ?08,? begins June 15 and will award a $5,000 prize to each of two winners. Applicants will submit inspirational, fun, and/or humorous videos 25 to 60 seconds long. The videos can be either original songs or parodies of existing tunes, and will support either the Democratic or Republican candidates. The entries will be viewed at both The Swamp and Mediacurves.
Voters will evaluate and score the songs based on creativity and content. The 50 highest-scoring videos supporting each party will be selected for the final round of competition, and judged by Mediacurves panelists. Two winners will be selected, one from each party, and the winners will receive $5,000 apiece.
