'Trinidad Express' Buys SCS Software

Posted
By: E&P Staff The 65,000-circulation Trinidad Express in Port of Spain has purchased Layout-8000, ColorAdBoss and SCS/Track from Software Consulting Services in Nazareth, Pa.

Founded in 1967 by journalists displaced when the British-owned Daily Mirror was bought by foreign owners of the rival Guardian newspaper, the Express is now owned by Caribbean Communications Network, which also owns the country's leading television station and has holdings in a number of Caribbean media houses.

Layout-8000 ad dummying supports automatic, semi-automatic and manual ad layout design and handles complex position requirements, including page and zone requests and competing advertisers. With the addition of ColorAdBoss, color positions may be computed automatically based on the press configuration, enabling the ad department to plan and sell color availability rather than relying on last-minute calls between the layout department and the pressroom.

SCS/Track allows advertising and production managers to control and monitor ad workflow and manage current and archived digital ad assets. SCS/Track gives ad make-up staff quick, direct, prioritized access to electronic documents. Jobs are routed electronically from station to station and are presented to users in deadline priority order.
