Troy 'Record,' Three Weeklies Get New Publisher

By: Jim Murphy has been named publisher for The Record newspaper in Troy and three other weeklies.

Murphy was the advertising director at The Post-Star in Glens Falls for the past three years. He also helped oversee that newspaper's Web site. He was advertising and marketing director and sales development manager at the Auburn Citizen and has worked at the Observer-Dispatch in Utica and the Oneida Daily Dispatch.

Murphy is a graduate of Alfred University with a bachelor's degree in political science and a master's in community services administration.

The appointment was announced by Mike Murray, senior vice president of circulation for Journal Register Co., the Yardley, Pa.-based parent of the Troy daily and the three weeklies, Greenbush Life, Latham Life and River Life.
