Tucker Publishing Sold to Mountaineer Publishing

By: E&P Staff The Mountaineer Publishing Co. in Waynesville, N.C., purchased Tucker Publishing. Terms of the deal, brokered by Cribb, Greene & Associates, were not disclosed.

Based in Knoxville, Tenn., Tucker Publishing specializes in outlet mall magazines for consumers. It was founded in 1981 by Pete Tucker and then sold to Republic Newspapers in 2002.

Mountaineer Publishing owns a tri-weekly newspaper in Waynesville and a weekly newspaper in Ashville, N.C. as well as several magazines and specialty publications.

Jeff Schumacher, general manager of Mountaineer Publishing, will oversee the operations at Tucker Publishing.
