By: Dave Astor When editorial cartoonists held "Black Ink Monday" yesterday to protest job cuts, they got at least one piece of good news. The Tulsa World's employment manager posted an e-mail at EditorialCartoonists.com mentioning that the Oklahoma paper is looking to replace a departed staff cartoonist.
Laura McIntosh's e-mail read, in part: "Unlike many newspapers, the Tulsa World is seeking a cartoonist. The Tulsa World is one of an elite few of daily newspapers that remain family owned. We believe the venerable political cartoon is, and should be, one of the most visible and popular parts of the newspaper. ..."
The World last month fired its longtime cartoonist, David Simpson, after he was
charged with plagiarism.
