By: E&P Staff Business commentator Louis Rukeyser died Tuesday night at his Greenwich, Conn., home of multiple myeloma -- a rare cancer of the blood marrow. He was 73.

While best known for his TV work, Rukeyser also wrote a column for more than 17 years for the now-defunct McNaught Syndicate and then Tribune Media Services. The feature was appearing in more than 200 newspapers when Rukeyser ended it in 1993 to devote time to other projects.

Rukeyser, a former London bureau chief for The Sun of Baltimore, hosted the popular "Wall Street Week" on public TV from 1970 to 2002 before moving to CNBC. He also authored a number of books on economics and investing.

His father, Merryle Stanley Rukeyser, was also a newspaperman -- serving as financial editor of the New York Tribune and writing, for more than 30 years, a business column for Hearst Newspapers and Hearst's International News Service.
