By: E&P Staff Two men have been arrested in connection with a rash of newsrack burglaries that plagued The Leaf-Chronicle in Clarksville, Tenn., for the past three weeks, the paper reported Thursday.

Anthony Wayne Gibson, 44, and William Scott Cash, 29, roommates in a Clarksville apartment, were arrested by Montgomery County Sheriff's Deputies, the paper reported in an article by Matt Rennels. Authorities say the men stole more than 30 Leaf-Chronicle newsracks.

Both men had criminal records for theft, the paper said.

The Leaf-Chronicle had offered a $500 reward after the number of stolen newsracks hit 18. Last Monday alone, three vending machines were stolen.

"Vending machines are not moved by The Leaf-Chronicle employees after dark," the paper said in an article announcing the reward offer. "If anyone sees someone moving a machine after dark, please report the activity to Clarksville Police or to the county Sheriff's Office."
