Two top executives at the San Francisco Examiner have left
the paper, which has halted home delivery in some areas outside
of San Francisco.

General Manager/Vice President Robert McCray, who came to the
Examiner after holding a similar position at The
Blade in Toledo, Ohio, left the company last week, and his
duties have been assumed by Publisher/Owner Ted Fang, who did not
give a reason for the departure. The Examiner's
circulation director, Stephen Sparks, has also left the paper;
his duties have been assumed by circulation department employee
Cheryl Ruiz.

Fang said the Examiner has ceased home delivery in "four
or five ZIP codes in outlying areas" but is still selling single
copies in those regions.

Although there have been rumors that he is trying to sell or shut
down the Examiner, which has had a tumultuous first year
under its new ownership, Fang said he is committed to making the
paper a success. "We're in it for the long haul," he said.
