By: E&P Staff Two Tribune Co. electricians were injured while installing new press equipment Sunday at the Chicago Tribune's Freedom Center production plant, the newspaper said.
Tribune spokesperson Christine Hennessey said the accident was caused by a short circuit that created an electric arc flash as the two were installing new
press equipment at about 7 a.m.
Both electricians were taken to a hospital. One was treated and released, while the other was still in the hospital Monday afternoon, Hennessey said.
"As a precautionary measure, the Chicago Tribune temporarily discontinued operations on Sunday morning to investigate the accident," the paper said in a statement. It said operations were restored by mid-afternoon Sunday and that "there was no operational impact on the publication of the newspaper."
