By: Dave Astor Columnist Connie Schultz landed an interview with Michelle Obama that was published yesterday.
Schultz -- the 2005 Pulitzer Prize winner with The Plain Dealer of Cleveland and Creators Syndicate -- is familiar with being the spouse of a politician. Her husband is U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio).
In Schultz's piece, Obama talks about the media, her family life, how the two Obama daughters reacted to their father clinching the Democratic presidential nomination, winning over Hillary Clinton voters, the controversial New Yorker cover, and more.
One thing Obama told Schultz:
-- "I need stability and evenness, and not paying attention to media coverage helps. It's usually either really, really good or really, really bad, which doesn't reflect what people are thinking."
An excerpt from the piece in Schultz's words:
-- "I wanted to talk with Michelle Obama because she is, indeed, auditioning for first lady, and a lot of voters don't know much about her beyond manufactured controversies.
"When she said that Americans' enthusiasm for change made her feel, for the first time, really proud of her country, her comments were distorted by some conservatives, who accused her of being unpatriotic...."

The columnist has also submitted a request to interview Cindy McCain.
