Two Shaftless Goss Uniliner S Presses for Reims, France

Posted
By: E&P Staff Hersant Media's L'Union will install two shaftless Goss Uniliner S presses in its Reims plant in northeast France, increasing color capacity from four broadsheet pages to 32 tabloid pages and will be used to print a range of daily newspapers and free sheets for the region.

"As the Uniliner S press is dedicated to straight production and in the doublewidth format, the press will offer us the opportunity to print 16 tabloid pages per web, instead of eight pages today, keeping the advantage of a four-page jump," Hersant Media Group Industrial Director Fran?ois Chaize, said in a statement. "The free sheet Paru Vendu (80 tabloid pages in four-color), will also be printed, "mixing" the two presses," he continued. "The 4x1 press also provides us with significant flexibility in pagination, section count and color."

Each Uniliner will be capable of printing 64 pages, half in full color. The press line will be configured as five eight-couple towers and one four-couple tower. The order includes semi-automatic plate loading, and two 2:3:3 jaw folders, and eight reelstands oriented 90 degrees to the press line and at the same level as the towers.

The overall configuration can be housed in a lower-cost single-level building and optimizes staffing through enhanced press crew efficiency and communication, according to Chaize.
