By: E&P Staff The World Press Photo Exhibition opens this evening at the United Nations and will run through May 29.
Among the images featured in the show is the World Press Photo of the Year. The shot -- by Canadian photographer Finbarr O'Reilly of Reuters -- shows the emaciated fingers of a one-year-old child pressed against the lips of his mother at an emergency feeding clinic in Niger.
The exhibit was timed to start on World Press Freedom Day, which is being observed today.
Sponsors of the show include the World Press Photo Foundation, Getty Images, the Permanent Mission of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the United Nations, and the UN Department of Public Information.
