By: E&P Staff The Albany (N.Y.) Newspaper Guild is setting up a fund for the 13 union employees laid off at the Times Union on July 6.
The fund will "help ease the financial burden" on the employees, the Guild local said in a statement on its Web site.
A total of 18 employees were let go in the layoff.
"The Albany Newspaper Guild's Fund for the Employees in Need will help laid off Times Union workers pay for day-to-day expenses such as food, clothing and utilities," the statement said.
Donations to the fund are being handled by KeyBank, according to the union.
