By: Mark Fitzgeerald E.W. Scripps Co. Thursday reported profits at its United Media syndication unit and licensing businesses jumped 36% in the fourth quarter of 2008.
Scripps attributed the profit increase to the decision by the ABC television network to air 13 ?Peanuts? specials in the quarter. United Media syndicates ?Peanuts,? ?Dilbert,? Marmaduke? and about 150 other comics and features.
Q4 profit rose to $4.3 million from $3.2 million.
