Carlson -- a panelist on CNN's "The Capital Gang" -- also writes for Time Magazine. She joined Time in 1988, and has served there as "Public Eye" columnist, White House correspondent, and deputy Washington bureau chief.
In addition, Carlson has worked as managing editor of The New Republic, Washington bureau chief of Esquire, editor of Washington Weekly, and editor of Legal Times in Washington.
The columnist holds a law degree from George Washington University and an English degree from Penn State.
