By: E&P Staff Universal UClick columnist Georgie Anne Geyer will receive the Daniel Pearl Award from the Chicago Journalists Association at the CJA's 70th annual dinner on Sept. 25.

Universal Uclick CEO/Editor Lee Salem said in a statement. ?We congratulate her for this latest award recognizing her outstanding achievements."
The Daniel Pearl award was established by the CJA in 2002 in memory of the Wall Street Journal correspondent who was kidnapped and murdered in Pakistan in 2001.
Geyer, who speaks Spanish, Portuguese, German, and Russian, writes a twice-weekly syndicated column for Universal Uclick. In 1973, she was the first Westerner to interview then-Iraqi president Saddam Hussein, and she has also interviewed Yasser Arafat, Anwar Sadat, King Hussein, Moammar Gadhafi, and Ayatollah Khomeini. She has written a number of books, including 1993?s ?Guerilla Prince,? a biography of Fidel Castro, which was later adapted into a TV movie.
