Press electrical problems that delayed Oct. 14 deliveries of Freedom Communications' Clovis (N.M.) News Journal and Portales News-Tribune have been at least temporarily overcome.
Copies were scheduled to be printed at another location and delivered to customers by mid-morning Thursday. The press problems also meant early news deadlines.
Repairing the problem also was important in order to continue serving commercial customers.
"We got our press running late yesterday, but we're still experiencing some minor issues," Production Manager Jim King told E&P, citing "a couple of relays that are hard to get."
That press is a vintage Harris V-15 with a Web Press Corp. four-color Quad-Stack added.
King joined the News Journal a month ago, having last run production for Sun Coast Media, in Venice Fla., which "had the same press, same, controller, same problem," he said.
