UPDATE: Seidel Enterprises at Work in Gannett Mailrooms

Posted
By: Jim Rosenberg Post-press and converting equipment and services supplier Seidel Enterprises won a Gannett contract last month to make its inserters compatible with product-dimension changes arising from narrower web widths used in the pressrooms.

The work is limited to those sites operating SLS-1000 inserters, according to Gannett.

"We go out with a complete machine shop in the back of a truck," said CEO Randy Seidel, who expects that on-site division of his firm to grow rapidly.

With technicians on rotating schedules, "we've got young guys who will work around the clock," finishing a site in two days, explains Ed Webb, who handles sales in the northeast for Seidel Enterprises. Work is now scheduled according to where the mobile machine shop is at any given time, but the company plans to add at least one more truck, according to Seidel and Webb.
