UPDATE: 'Tracy Press' Scales Back Again -- Now Twice-Weekly

Posted
By: E&P Staff The Tracy (Calif.) Press, which last September moved from five-day-a-week publication to three, has cut its frequency again.

The free 19,350-circulation paper is now being delivered twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

In a note to readers, the Matthews family owners blamed the economy for the cut in frequency.

"Unfortunately, we don't have the luxury of waiting out this slow period," Publisher Robert Matthews wrote. "The Press has been in business for almost 110 years, as a weekly and as a daily, and our family doesn't plan to go away anytime soon. But to keep going, we have to make cuts at the same time that we strive for solutions."

Beginning with its Sept. 5, 2007 edition, the Tracy Press began publishing Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
