After many months of rumors and delays, Facebook Tuesday announced it will run a test of a video ad Thursday that will run in the central news feeds of its users.
A report by the
Wall Street Journal Monday night indicated that the ad to run Thursday, a single video ad from Summit Entertainment and Mindshare for the new film Divergent, was the kickoff of the long-anticipated launch of video ads by the social network. While it seems almost certain Facebook eventually will launch them broadly, the company took pains today to characterize the ad Thursday as a test.
